Leaky Softener Tank

If you have a tank that leaks the first thing you should do is check the warranty. On most Kenmore models the warranty is good against any leads for ten years after purchase. In the section below you can find a list of manuals for many of the common models to see if your warranty does, in fact, cover your leak, given the date you purchased your unit.

Solution: Mostly likely you can get a leak covered under your warranty, check your manual to confirm if you can get if covered contact your nearest sears to have the work done under warranty. If it is not covered under warranty give us a call and we can take care of fixing the problem for you.

No Soft Water

If your system is just no outputting soft water you know you have an issue that needs to be solved. Here is a great video on a quick way to tell if your water is hard or soft.

Solution: This is often caused by a tiny vacuum leak somewhere, probably in some rubber part. Another common problem is that an O-ring slips off or gets damaged. In both of these scenarios it is probably best to contact a local water softener repair shop, like WaterSmart, to come to your house and fix the issue. Unless you are a plumber by trade you probably waste a lot of time trying to troubleshoot the issue. In contrast, a professional who deals with these issues on a daily basis would most likely be able to fix the issue quickly and for a low cost.

Salt Tank Fills With Water

If you have an issue with your Kenmore water softener being full of water you are experiencing one of the more common problems with the Kenmore models. When this happens you will usually experience that you don't have soft water. Below is a good video summary explaining the issue.

Solution: There is a wide range of causes for this issue. There are a number of things that would need to be trouble shooted to determine the cause of the issue. As you can see from the video the solutions require significant softener tank part dismantling. To save yourself time and from damaging the parts of your unit it is best to get a trained professional to fix the unit. Our trained professionals here at WaterSmart can quickly and inexpensively fix this issue saving you time and money.

Water In Salt Tank About Half Way Up The Tank

Another common concern we get calls about often is that people tell us that water is about half way up their salt tank. If you have this issue there is something wrong with your water softener. The good news is that usually if you have this issue it can be fixed easily.

Solution: The most common reason for the salt tank being half full of water is that the nozzle and venturi are dirty or blocked. This is a process that Kenmore provides instructions on how to do on your own at www.kenmorewater.com. It does require a significant dismantling of the unit, so if you are not very mechanically inclined or patient it will probably be best to contact an expert like the expert water softener technicians at WaterSmart to save you a bunch of frustration. If you are brave you can read up on the process and attempt to clean the nozzle and venturi.

Problem Not Covered Under Warranty

If you have a problem with your Kenmore water softener the first thing you should do is check to see if the repair will be under warranty. Unfortunately, the Kenmore water softeners do not have a very long warranty as their warranty is only good for 1 year from the date of purchase for any defects, with the exception of leaks that the warranty covers for 10 years on most models.

Here is a link to just one sample of the manual of a Kenmore Water Softener, you will see right on page #2 of the document that it states the warranty is only 1 year. This is standard across all Kenmore models.
